GPO Dial Blank Question
« on: January 29, 2019, 09:28:22 AM »
Today I have been having a bit of a tidy up in my spares boxes and came across this Bakelite dial blank.

I knew I had it but it doesn't seem to fit the GPO 200 series phones (and therefore probably not the 300 either?) - does anyone know which phone this would have come from? I have several #3 blanks so I know it is not a #3 (also not the same shape). Nothing written on the reverse.

Any ideas?

ETA: Third photo is of dial blank #3 for comparison.

Hmm, thanks, but not sure, I have put it up against mine and it looks wrong. The off centre fitting is unusual.

Pic below (from internet) of a dial blank for a candlestick (#4 I think). Smaller rim.

2cv, your reply got me thinking outside of the box  ;D so to speak, and after a while my search led me (almost) back home. I had searched for manual, so moved on to magneto phones and waddaya know :) look what I found.

It looks very likely that my dial blank may have been adapted from a magneto phone.

This dial blank has been a mystery since I got it in a joblot. No longer.  :)

Nooooo... I have a couple of Magneto Laurents, that's quite enough for me. But now you mention it there were some magneto handles in the same joblot and a whole load of other 'unrecognisable' parts.

This evening I know stuff I never knew this morning.  :)
