The following is being posted on behalf of Dennis and the Forum Global Moderators:

Classic Rotary Phones Rules of Conduct

Recently, we had a dispute between members which upset quite a few and for which there was no process or guidelines set up for moderation. It took some time for this situation to be resolved, as moderators and Dennis needed to get together and discuss the situation.  It caused several days of emails back and forth between moderation staff to come up with a fair resolution and a decision on how best to handle it.

Therefore, we have come up with the following set of guidelines for the membership to deal with this type of situation, should it come up again in the future. These may be added to or modified in the future as needed:

a) All members must treat each others with respect. We are all human and we are not infallible. We all make mistakes and have bad days. Please keep this in mind in your everyday dealings with others.

b) Disputes between members must not be aired out in public. If you have a dispute with another member, please resolve it privately. If you refer to the dispute in a forum post, do not name the other member involved. If you must discuss this with the opposing party, feel free to use a PM or email viewable only by the parties involved.

c) Members who do not abide with this will be given a one month suspension for a first time offense. A second offense within a year may result in permanent suspension. Minor offenses may be given more latitude at the moderator's discretion. Suspensions will only be meted out via unanimous decision by moderation staff on a case to case basis.

d) We reserve the right to delete all threads including such an offense as necessary.

Everyone will be treated equally in this policy. We regret that it has become necessary to introduce such a policy, but believe it is in the best interests of the Forum membership.

Further:

We would like to ask all members to be honest and forthcoming in their dealings with others. If you have a problem with other members in dealings or purchases, please resolve that problem off the forum. If a deal is struck with another member, please honor it. Multiple reports of bad dealings will be handled via the suspension process outlined above.

Our intent is that this should be a safe, informative and comfortable place to come, and not a place to air our dirty laundry.

We are all friends and are involved in one of the best hobbies there is. Our membership represents all walks of  life, and varying levels of knowledge. Please keep this in mind with your dealings with other members. Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.
