$19 Redbar on ebay right now

I'm not going to buy this, but there's a Kellogg Red bar on eBay for $19.99 BiN, for those who are interested.

It's cracked and the piece is missing, sadily.

It's sitting on a dresser here, now. Pretty cool phone, and my first redbar. ;)

Best regards

Thanks, Ben!

It appears to be a model 1062, a stripped magneto, or common battery phone, from perusing the 1948 Kellogg catalog here, page 11.

Yeah dude, we need a fix!

A few of the auction pictures were posted, just after I made the above post, last night. Not very good focus, though.

It looks like a fun phone...I don't have one of those yet!

I was struck by the fact that the phone was located in Blue Eye, Missouri.  What a great name for a town.  Wikipedia says, "Blue Eye is a village in Stone County, Missouri, United States. The population was 167 at the 2010 census."

So there you have a little geographic info to go with the phone.  (Of course there is no guarantee it was actually from that town, but it is an interesting story to attach to the phone.)

Here's a couple of non-auction photos, of the redbar, a D1 that came the same day, and a BK 177 VTVM one of my buddies just gave me, over the weekend.

It's cracked and the piece is missing, sadily.
As young Master Ben so aptly pointed out, the redbar's shell is cracked in one rear corner, and has a 'monkey-bite' missing, about the size of one's thumbnail, from the other.

Despite that, the shell and handset look like they will polish up quite nicely, despite the appearance of the auction photos. Pretty minimal grime / finger oil residue, on the face; rest just a tad dingy.

I am optimistic that I can get it to gorgeous display condition, and perhaps I will come across a replacement shell, down the road. The insides are pristine, nearly hermetically sealed, in appearance, so worth finding a nice shell.

Best regards!

You should be able to hide it, or give it a new case. All my redbars have cracks too, I think..
