I got this flaky chromed 3 slotter, the back and the vault part was extremely bad, no vault door, no lock .....Flaky fingerwheel...

So I started to make a vault door, in plastic!  I have some hard white plastic, cut a square rounded the corners.

How to keep it in olace? OK glued on a rim on the lover part, but instead of drilling a hole, and putting in a lock, .... A magnet does it.  Pretty hard to get it open, so I just use a magnet!

I painted brushed the parts before painting, sprayed with filler, and black.

And I put in a lock (opens with triangular key)

I have invested in 2 new finger wheels with centers, so now I have 2 questions:
1) Should I paint the rest in black.
2) When I have followed your first answer, Should the finger wheel be chrome or black?

Dag,

Were it my phone, I would stay with the flaky chrome, for originality's sake. If it were really far gone, I might consider painting it black.

For my personal tastes, (worth $ £ ¥ 0.00, I like the black finger wheel. Enjoy your cool payphone; I hope to soon add one to my collection...

Best regards!
