New Wooden Phones in Demo Area!
« on: June 27, 2014, 03:29:15 PM »
Finally, I have a job done I have been putting off since winter. I have mounted my last three wooden finds in the stairway of the museum''s demo room. It includes my early 1317 and Phillips Electrical Works Monophone as well as a Danish phone. I have several 1417s in the other display area, but none as early as this one.

Whew! Glad I finally bit the bullet and got them mounted!

You inspired me to work on my wall phone display, as your phones look nice hung.

Hi Ben:

This is my overflow room of sorts, since most of my wooden phones are in the main room of the museum and hooked up to operate with the 1240 switchboards. But room has run out there, so I am beginning to put some in this area...

I have had them sitting on the table there for the past 6 months or so...

I like how they are on the stairs, if you hung them all going up and down the stairs. Meaning the distance from the bottom of the phone and stair always being the same.

My wall phones have to sit on top of the dresser until I get out into the 90 heat.

That is what I was trying to do, but it was tricky, as I had no help, so had the phone balanced in one hand while I tried to get aa screw in with the other. Once I had one screw in it was a lot easier  :) I did manage to get at least two screws per phone into a stud. This was really important especially with my precious Phillips phone - I serched for that one for just about 40 years!

Ah, you could use a tall car jack to hold it up while your putting in the screws.
