Ivory 302--11/41. This was the first year for thermoplastic 302s. Note the ivory plungers and the thick Lucite finger wheel. Sold for $219 Buy-it-now on April 5. Seller said it has hairline crack on receiver cap and another on top of the housing.

Ivory 302 with 5J dial--sold for $153.50 on May 13, 2014. (Missing transmitter unit.)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/321399827019

It was returned by buyer because of a loose transmitter cap indicating possible shrinkage of the handle. It was then resold for $120 as is.

This ivory 302 sold for $152.51 on 4/26/14. Handset appears to be discolored and seller said there are some minor cracks in the handset and housing. Finger wheel is later type used on 9C and 8A dials so not original.

Ivory (painted) metal 302 dated 9/40.
Sold for $64.77 on Apr. 28, 2014.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191152774078

By early 1941,-housings and handsets for ivory, pekin red, gray green, old rose, and blue 302s were made of Tenite (thermoplastic). 302s in metallic colors (dark gold, oxidized silver, statuary bronze and old brass) were still painted metal.

The metallic color phones continued to have 5H dials with casings and fingerwheels painted to match the phones.
Ivory, old rose, blue, gray green and pekin red phones always had 5J dials with white casings. The finger wheels were originally unpainted stainless steel, but by the time thermoplastic housings were introduced, the 5J dials had clear plastic finger wheels.

All painted 302s used brown Bakelite handsets with no grooves. The handsets were painted to match the phones.
