Rewiring D1 w/ E1 Handset To 202
« on: February 01, 2015, 05:34:29 PM »
I recently purchased a nice D1 phone  with a E1 handset that is, wired with a 102 configuration (it has a 4H dial).

How do I rewire it for 202 configuration with a 634ba subset?

Not really Ben,  I need  it a little more explicit... like specific wiring layouts.

Does it have three wires in the desk set cord or four?

For antisidetone service (202) you would need a 4-conductor desk set cord, otherwise you can wire it to a 684 subset but have it still be sidetone.

The 4-conductor cord inside the base of the phone would be wired as follows

Red to R on the dial along with the red wire from the handset
Green to GN on the hookskwitch
Yellow to Y on the hookswich
Black to BK on the dial

Also inside the phone, the handset cord is connected as follows:
Red to R on the dial
White to W on the dial
Black to BK on the dial, along with the black desk set wire

There should be a jumper from BK on the hookswitch to Y on the dial
Another jumper from W on the hookswitch to BB on the dial

The R terminal off to the side of the phone (the one not on the dial) is not used

Inside the subset, the 4-conductor desk set cord is connected as follows:

Red to terminal R on the 101A induction coil
Green to terminal GN on the 101A induction coil
Yellow to terminal Y/L2
Black to terminal BK on the terminal board in the subset

The line cord in the subset should be connected as follows:
Red to L1 on the 101A induction coil
Green to terminal Y/L2
If the line cord has a yellow and black wire, those should be taped individually and not used.
