20-AL (1020-AL) desk stand with 334A subset.

Other than the receiver cord, this appears to be unmodified since the original installation almost 100 years ago. Note the green silk desk stand cord and the decal on the subset. Paint is original. Receiver is like new. This is the way I like to find them; nothing I could do to improve it, other than finding an original receiver cord, as that would destroy the originality. I like to see how the "cording" was done in the factory.

Purchased for $101.40 + $22 shipping on 6/14/15.

In order for the decal to be right side up, the gongs should be at the bottom. (The 333A wall set does have the gongs at the top. The hinges can be mounted on either side of the chassis.)

Thanks to a tip from unbeldi for this 1928 Atlanta Directory. At that time, except for the WAlnut and MAin panel offices, all of Atlanta still had manual phones.

I remember last year for some reason I was searching ebay recent BiNs, but turned my phone off for about 10 minutes before going back to searching. This time, for some reason, I was looking at recent sold BiNs under the same search title. There, right in front of me, for the whole world to see, was a 1955 Ivory 500 with a matching straight cord that had just sold for $20 BiN! In those short 10 minutes, I lost out on a beautiful phone like that for dirt cheap!
It would be pretty cool to see a picture of a family reunion of Yellow, Red, Ivory, Brown, and Rose Beige 500s with matching color straight cords!

Here is an early "silent" 5H-type dial with phenol pulse pawl. (This style pawl was used for 5-type dials from 1936 - II 38.) I bought this one to get the undated plastic 150A dial number plate...note that this is an all plastic plate, not a 149A metal plate with plastic laminate. The dial is dated IV 37.
(149-type plates: 1934-1938; standard 150-type plates are 1938-1953)

This Western Electric 5H dial is dated IV-37, which makes it accurate for use on the first-issue #302 telephone sets. The finger wheel is iron, the switch pile-up is similar to that of a 4H dial. The pulsing pawls on early 5H dials are made of a plastic compound, not iron. This one is in good shape. The dial has been lubricated and calibrated. Note that the face plate on this dial is an original plastic one, not a metal one with a celluloid covering. This dial will complete your early #302 telephone. It ships domestically via Priority Mail, Small Box. I will be most happy to answer any questions you may have.

  H4BG (straight):                           
   As of 5/55 BSP: only -50 (ivory), -52 (gray) and -54 (brown) H4BG cords are listed.  (C36.101 issue 13, May, 1955)
   So, the red and other colors must have been later than mid-1955. This red one is dated III 56. (The only other H4BG I have is ivory.)

   I believe that the H4BG cord jackets were vinyl. The straight black neoprene cords, still used in 1956, were coded H4BF.

That Silver 302 brought back some memories.
Looks like the first phone I ever worked on.
Mine was just silver spray paint. I still have the phone, and it works great.
