Hallicrafters S-107 Mark I
« on: June 26, 2016, 03:25:31 PM »
I finally got around to doing the capacitor replacement on this old fellow.  I was really impressed with it's performance when I had first got it and a filter capacitor abruptly ceased filtering before I had put it up a couple of years ago.  After finishing the recap and doing an alignment on it, I put it on the antenna I use for my Magnavox receiver.  Sad to say, the Magnavox's receiver is much better at everything except accentuating CW.  That and the Hallicrafter's audio  being attuned strictly for voice and CW quality will mean the Magnavox will be my go to unit for short wave listening.  The S-107 is nice to look at though.
