" Great US NAVY emergency lantern - perfect for black outs or the like. Battery powered, 7" x 6", waterproof, from the mid-1950's. Works, email with questions - I am selling this for a sailor. "

Didn't state the manufacturer. Probably a GSA contract manufacturer.

Doug,

This different listing shows "Roflar" in the title

     https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-roflar-usn-mn-navy-lamp-lantern-flashlight

but the second image from the Flashlight Museum,

     http://www.flashlightmuseum.com/US-Navy-Flashlight-Yellow-Ship-Lantern-2-6V-1950

it lists the manufacturer as US Navy. Again, most likely made under a GSA contract.

I'll stop looking with this post.

The Navy sure did like big flashlights, didn't they?

They wanted to make sure you found them in the dark. :)
Nice piece and a great find.

wow, two six volt batteries, heavy for sure! wonder if it floated considering it was for the navy? Might double as a coastal defense item, float enough in a harbor and any ship that hits them may sink.

I used to have one of those. They were used on board ships for emergency lighting.
