Very pretty. I am guessing from the description it is not an original finish. Not clearly stated but seems to be inferred?? I also am guessing he means burled, not burr. Still an eye catcher anyway!

$650.00

I would offer to take over the contest but sometimes with my work I am so busy I do not even log on for a few days so I would miss too much. I know how much work you do here and do not blame you for trying to find a replacement. Won't someone step up and take some of the load from John?

I guess you are right, when you look at the phone it has a finish making the receiver cover match to perfect to the phone, so it has to be painted, with the receiver in it.  Still a unique phone.

I am not that kind of collector so Ihave no real idea, but a guess of $236 is mine  ;)

I would not pay much for it my-selves, I have one white in working order, got it it for about $30  ;D

Now, I know this one for sale at a Norwegian page: NOK 600 or about $76-77.

But is it really so beautiful?

Looks like a modern wooden phone....IE:Polished Particle Board! Some know Particle Board as K3 Board...other names likely exist. Wood ground into large particles like coarse sawdust then glued together into boards (somehow)!

After cleaning the residue of untold cartons of cigarettes from radios, their internal components and telephones, that finish looks too much like tars and nicotine to be too appealing for me.  There is a finish though, that has a defined grain structure and is applied to an object while floating on a water bath's surface.  The object is dipped through it with it adhering with surface tension.  I have seen it applied to otherwise drab black plastic pistol grips with very detailed, uneven surfaces and it looked quite good, though I don't know how well it wears on well used surfaces.
