Some cool things I have been workin on.
« on: May 03, 2018, 11:20:29 AM »
I have been workin on my phone situation.
I recently overhauled my wiring.
I now can connect my crank phones through my switchboard, which supplys the DC power for the stations.
Sounds funny, huh?
Seems to work well with the phones I have tested so far.
I have a WE 40 AL candle, and a Leich #70 on my desk.
I had to build two 2 line splitter boxes, due to again, runnin out of stations on my board.
The other switch box is in the shop.
Disclaimer: My phones are pieces together. so not everything matches perfectly.
But, they work...all of them. I even built my own sub set for the Leich.
And I am happy.

Wow, your efforts seem pretty creative and determined to someone lazy like me.

Well done!

Thanks Nick.
Space, cost, etc... drove me to build my own.
Plus, that way, there are no limits...so to speak

I love that experimental part of the hobby, learning more and more how everything works (together)

Very cool. Do you have pictures of the inside?  I for one would like to see the back inside etc. I see you made your own cords? Or you bought them.

Made them, just audio cords.
don't have original parts.
here are a few pics.

Everything is an experiment for me.
no easy answers here...
but , heck yeah! bring it on!
I have been reverse engineering stuff, and building mock ups most of my life...lol

Very cool. Does it work ok, have you had any bugs to work out? I can't make everything out on the upper part, the red things are lights? Then button's, then Jack's?
I've made several versions of key systems over the years, before I actually got a real one. So experiments are part of the fun. And finding ways to improve something is also fun.
What do the relays do, and what voltage are you using to power things?
Boy this makes me just go out to my shed and start playing with my toys, and make something new for my set up.

I made the stations with 100 volt AC relays to sense the ring.
this locks the 24 volt relay on which lights the lite.
the red button cancels the lite.
had to do it that way, because no original plugs/sockets which have the switches built in.
the board works fine. sometimes I get the loud pop in the rec tho.

Here are a couple more pics.
The modular mod to the system made it universal.
Now, everything can be relocated, and reinstalled if needed without issues."and without batteries!!!"
I have 2, 6 space wall plates on the back of the board.
and 1, 6 space wall plate on the wall with mod cords connecting them.
All phones have 4 wire mod cords too.
