WE F1 Handset Non grooved and grooved
« on: December 29, 2018, 04:01:37 PM »
While going through my spare handsets box this afternoon I found a non grooved black F1 that I had
forgotten I even had.  It is dated 11-02-37. A grooved F1 that I have on my 1937 302 is dated 10-19-37.
The dates are just two weeks apart from each other, so I'm thinking this must have been near the end of the production run on
non grooved F1's. Here are a couple photos of the handsets.

I've never seen a seamless F1 handset that wasn't Brown; interesting.

The early ones were. They introduced the groove as a quick way to get rid of the seam mark from the molds. Before that they trimmed and buffed.
I posted an article to the list servers about the moulding process for F1's it showed the machines and described the process. The article was in a Bell publication. It is probably in the TCI library.

So, that's what the grove is for?  Always wondered why some WE handsets didn't have a grove.

Some sort of déjà vu?

What happened to the lessons learnt from the E handset?
