Cleaning/Polishing Original Paint
« on: February 14, 2020, 01:35:17 PM »
Hi Folks,
I've done a few restorations and do enjoy bringing an old garage find back to like new condition. However, I got my hands on a few pieces that I would like to try to simply preserve as is. Does anyone have tips or suggestions for cleaning/polishing original paint. I would like to safely bring back as much original luster as I can without damaging the paint.

Simple washing with soap & water will clean them. Brasso & 0000 steel wool does an amazing job.

I've never tried brass, or quad ott steel wool.
But if your trying to bring back to original finish, how's that keeping the phone as is?
I agree with Harry, simple soap and water is a good start, I start that with each set I do. Then I determine if the set is good enough to restore or just leave it as is.
