Any ideas?
« on: November 28, 2020, 07:14:16 PM »
I bought this as a dial center cap.  It’s too big for that, but it does fit over a candlestick mouthpiece almost perfectly.  Anybody ever seen one before?

Wow, that is cool. I have not seen anything like it my self, was it that shiny when you got it? Is it flimsy, or a decent type of stamping?
I wonder if its a one of a kind type thing??

That’s exactly how I got it.  If I had to describe it, I’d compare it to a Copenhagen lid. Maybe a little thicker.

There were tissue paper filters made for transmitter horns  for germ reduction ,
If the cover fits tight to the horn, and vibrates, it could be for germ reduction, Boil as needed.
It is a cool find at a nice price.

Interesting that it fits a mouthpiece -- but I'm sure that's a coincidence.

The Indianapolis plant was in operation from 1948 to 1986.

Any other guesses?

I agree, pure coincidence.  It fits to tight.  I did hope it was right for a dial center cover though.  It would look perfect on a 302.
Hopefully somebody will know what it was actually for.

A quick Google found this - https://www.sportscards.com/item/encased-postage-in-original-folder-usa-stamp-indiana-1966-western-electric-token/391928633592

One on eBay now - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Encased-Postage-Original-Folder-USA-Stamp-INDIANA-1966-WESTERN-ELECTRIC-TOKEN-/313104014442 (if you put 'encased postage' into the eBay search there are lots of example - mostly not telephone related)

There's also a different phone related example here - https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1969-encased-postage-stamp-canada-274-486691150

 :)

Wow, tubaman

That's amazing! Great detective work.

You've made me blush!
The star is very nice - I think I might print it and put in on the mantelpiece.  :)
