Sorry about not mentioning the highjacked thread.

Joining the navy is mentioned in the song, also swimming the distance with just his guitar, terminal island in the same location is also a prison, maybe a prisoner looking out his window.

I've taken the SS. Catalina to the island, it's really beautiful.
