A couple of Frankenphones on eBay
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:24:40 PM »
Both of these have #6 dials.  Peoples pictures in dial card holders are always a red flag.  I cannot understand the D-1 auction, $36.99??? Someone must really hate stripping paint.

The little girl in the dial center is probably a great-grandmother now :D

Candlesticks with dials always go for alot.  I imagine that you could take a 20AL and stick a #9 dial to it with duct tape, and someone would bid $120 for it.

I will probably never understand what drives bidders on ebay.

I know what you mean, there is a Western Electric stick up there with an AE dial that was $148 last I looked.  I think $150 is a good price for a complete candlestick with a 2AB dial, $125 for a #4.  No more than $100 for #6, $85 for one with a curly handset cord and a 4-prong plug.

I think I saw her on a milk carton one time.

I like WE candlestick auctions that provide photos from numerous angles, except the angle that gives a good look at the fingerstop.  The 164A dial plate, while possible, would have to do some explaining as to how it got there.
