I saw one of these in pink in an antique store a few years ago. They had it plugged in and you wouldn't believe how quickly the lighter element heated up.

The old electric lighter elements scare the crap out of me!

I had an art deco lighter 20+ years ago. it was an "Electric Match" type though.
