What is this phone?

Described as a "copper" phone, but not sure if it's metal or brown bakelite.
The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.

Looks like a phone from the European continent to me, a lot of Europhones have those dial cards with the numbers printed on them along with the ones on the dial itself... :)

It's a copper Bell (BTM) phone from Belgium.  They are often called "kettle" phones.

I have one of these.    I tend to call mine a butler phone because of the carrying handle.   I read somewhere that these were sold in the US in the late 50's early 60's.  Maybe someone has better info.  I chose to keep mine with the original toned patina instead of polishing.  It is different and catches people's eye when the look at my collection.

It's a Belgian 1950's 'Poste Nationale' telephone that was made both by ATEA and BTMC in Antwerp.

It has a zinc alloy body that was copper plated to make the, usually black, paint adhere better.

I have the ATEA version, and it has several differences (and no handle).
