Until now we have allowed self-registration. There has been a huge increase in people joining simply for the purpose of posting links to web sites, or other activity that I refer to as SPAMMER activity. As a result I have changed the Registration process so that the prospective member must send me an e-mail with a very short description of your intended activity. I'm not concerned if the member ever makes a post, but I would like to know a little bit about you before I approve the membership. An example might be.......
Hi, I am interested in old telephones. I currently own a "so and so" and would like to know more about it... Perhaps a little more information so I know that you have legitimate intent with your membership. Again, it doesn't matter to me if you ever make a post, but we would love for you to join in the conversation.
