Glad that you mentioned these on here, Ray. I had always known you made the conversion covers for 302 bases, and always meant to order one, but seeing them here, made me finally order one. Actually, I have two good spare bases, but for now just ordered the one - I will eventually order another...

Thanks for mentioning them!

I just want to say I've made two subsets using these covers and they're pretty well made.

Now, wouldn't it be nice if someone gave these a model number, say perhaps 686A, I think there isn't a 686 subset,  and made a schematic diagram to paste to the cover. We could go even one set further and make a "new" BSP for this. All in phone fun of course.

One question. Are the holes for the cover screw pre-tapped? I didn't notice. Just screwed the cover on.

I've used a couple of these, too.  They're well made, fit perfectly, and do exactly what you need for them to do if you're wanting to use a base as a subset.  :-)
Annoying new poster.

Thanks for the compliments guys!  In answer to your question, no, the holes are not tapped for the screws. The plastic is just soft enough to allow the machine screws to self-tap as you screw them in.

As for a Model number, well, I would call it something like N302SB ("North-subset-base")

Awsome Ray, I always see tons of leftover 302 bases... maybe you should buy them up and sell some subsets!

Uh, no thanks.  I already have a basement full of phones, and probably 100+ 302 bases; don't need any more  :-\  In fact, come to think of it, THAT was why I came up with this product!

It is cost effective to cast new 302 covers? Would there be a need since the 302 is so plentiful anyway? Just thinking of all the 302's with split corners.

Oh well. the bases and covers are a way to make subsets and otherwise use the orphaned 302 bases.

I do this to eat (cast parts), and it is QUITE a job to create a 302 body. Considering on any given summer day at a flea market, I can find one or 2 - 302s for less than $25 (with a working dial no less), it's just not practical to even contemplate casting them.

Maybe if you cast them in different colors that WE never made.  Or even clear ones.  Did you ever think of that?  ::)

I just wanted to mention I received ny 302 subset cover yesterday, and that it looks to be excellent! Not that I would have expected anything less from Ray!

Now, one problem remains, a bit of a mystery. After it came, I went over to the museum to get one of the two 302 bases I had to try the cover on. Do you think I could find either? Not a chance.

Back over today to search further. If I can't find them, I will be looking for a 302 base to use with the cover. It is truly a mystery as to where they have gone!

That being said, the cover is great! We are so fortunate to have someone like Ray in our midst!

Update: They say the second time is the charm - I went back over to the museum, and after checking a few places I had thought of overnight for the 302 bases, again coming up short. Then I started back at the beginning, and found them, no more than 2 inches from where I had originally thought they were! Do you think it might be a message I have too much stuff! Anyway, Ray, I now have the cover mounted on one of them. One of thse days, you will get another order! Terrible to be losing my eyesight AND my mind!

I mean it 100%! While I can't afford any of your other excellent creations, this is one I can, and am as pleased as I could be!

Some day, I would love to see a description of the processes you go to to make up the moulds and cast phone parts. It is truly amazing what you do!
