Today I was browsing the usual antique mall not far from here and found a nearly numbers matching WE 500T dated 9/51.  Everything I could check without taking the upper housing off showed the same date, so I picked it up for $45.00.  Pretty nice shape, though missing the dial card retainer and card.

Once I got home I opened it up to find that the upper house has been changed, as the circle cast into the plastic shows '62' and 'P' but no vermilion stamps along the edge.  The rest of the dates are:

G1 handset - 9/51
U1 element - 9/7/51
T1 element - 9/51
handset caps - 9/51
425A network - 9/51
C2A ringer - 7/51
7A dial - 9/51
500T base - 9/51
upper housing - 1962

Overall i'm pretty happy.

That is a really great find at a good price.

That is a find of the month contender.
