Post your "Find of the Month" for March 2015 here.

A "Find of the Month" is a telephone or a related item that you acquired during the month that you are particularly excited about either because of its rarity, the difficulty you had in trying to find it for your collection or the exceptional "deal" that you got on it.

The "Find of the Month" contest is focused on the collection of telephones rather than on their sale for a profit. To be eligible for the "Find of the Month" contest:

- The finder must have personally acquired and actually own the item.
- The item can be acquired for free but it can not be a gift or present from anyone.
- The item (or any of its components) cannot be put up for sale during the contest period.
- Only one "Find" per owner can be in a "Find of the Month" contest.

A Nomination Should Include:

1) at least one picture of the item.
2) the price & shipping cost.
3) where and/or how it was found.
4) the forum link if discussed in another topic on CRPF.
5) the eBay link if won there.
6) and other information of importance about the find.

Ideally your item would be posted in its own thread elsewhere on the forum such as "Auction Talk", "Flea Market/Yard Sale Finds" or "Collectors Corner" Board. Then you or anyone else can nominate your "Find" to the Current "Find of the Month" thread by posting at least one picture and other details including the price paid, any shipping costs and a link to the original discussion on the forum. It is not a requirement that your find be posted elsewhere on the forum but the more details the better.

Nominations of phones listed in other forum discussion topics, by members that do not own the item but realize it is indeed a "find" worthy of being nominated as a "Find of the Month" candidate, are always welcome.

Please pick your best "Find" to submit for the month limiting your entry to one phone or one "Find" that might include multiple items. If you have already entered for the month and come up with something even better either submit your new find indicating that it replaces your previous entry OR you can enter your new Find in next months contest.

TelePlay has grabbed pictures of all of the "Find of the Month" winners since we started this back in 2010 and he has put them into albums on PhotoBucket. Thanks John.

I'll take the opportunity to go first, this month, by nominating the ivory 305 (H4 mount) that John S found by way of Craigslist ad (for a lawn mower) for a total sale price of $20.

Very nice find indeed. Will be interesting to see what's under all that dirt and to learn the date codes. John S post the phone in its own topic at

Might as well end the contest now. That's going to be hard to beat. Congratulations!

Okay, after consideration and discussion, given the rules put into place by AE_collector

     http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=5699.msg67051#msg67051

and my reply last April in a topic discussion of what can be nominated under the rules,

     http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=5699.msg124477#msg124477

in which I said "I think the only rule is that you have to actually own the phone and not have it for sale or intend to sell it for at least a few weeks after the find of the month voting ends."

. . . since at least one of the phones is now an active auction on eBay,

     http://www.ebay.com/itm/261801234038

that auction disqualifies all phones purchased, the group of phones, and as such, the nomination of the purchased group for the Find of the Month - March 2015 is hereby disqualified.

Two things related to the Find of the Month, Marc h 2015.

First, I created a new topic

http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=13934.0

and moved all comments related to the "rules" discussion that came after Mark's find was disqualified. The first post of that topic is self explanatory and can be address at some time in the future.

Second, it's mid March and only one phone has been nominated so far. With two weeks or so left in the month, there is plenty of time to nominate phones so this is merely a timely reminder, not an emergency request, to nominate finds.

Now, the moderators have tried to get members to nominate finds of other members after they were posted in their own, unique topic for display and discussion. With Mark's find disqualification, it seems there is a problem with that, wanting others to nominate a find, in that the nominating member does not know if the item(s) found will be kept or flipped. I suppose that could be address by the finding member, when creating a new topic for the find, states whether or not the item(s) will be kept and displayed as part of a collection or put up for sale. Anyway, I'm sure this is something that will be address in the future when the forum takes another look at the Find of the Month guidelines.

I'll nominate my Western Electric 50AL Candlestick with a nice (but visually rusty) 2AB dial attached for $49 BIN plus $12.95 shipping from eBay!

I would like to nominate the Leich telephone I purchased on eBay for $13.99 plus $17 shipping.  I'd really love to show some photos I took of it, but the new system won't allow me to post them.

Here is the link:  www.ebay.com/itm/201293585381

The discussion of andre-janew's phone has been moved to its own topic under Auction Talk, at this link

On March 14 I attended a scientific instrument (retro tech) show in Irving Texas. There was a couple selling off collectible stuff of her uncle who had passed on. The 51AL candlestick was marked $75. I bought it for $60. It has the excellent original finish, 2AB dial, star mouthpiece, cloth cord and a 143 receiver. Felt on bottom needs to be replaced.

I believe Crestview 5 was in the LA area.

Last week to nominate any find 1) you may have seen on the forum found by others and posted somewhere else on the forum this month or 2) a find of your own which may have been over looked for nomination by forum members or not yet posted by you somewhere else on the forum.

Per Terry, to nominate a members phone, you will need to include:

1) at least one picture of the item.
2) the price & shipping cost.
3) where and/or how it was found.
4) the forum link if discussed in another topic on CRPF.
5) the eBay link if won there.
6) and other information of importance about the find.

And, if you have already nominated one of your finds (or one of your finds have been nominated by some other member), but have found a better item, you can retract the first nomination and nominate the second, "better" find.

This month's poll will be set up at EOD on Tuesday, March 31st.
