I spotted this unusual handset for sale. TMC-54, curious to know what this would have been used on.

A collector of  'Monochrome Phones with Sepia Tones'   ...and a Duck!

That was used aboard a ship.The telephone was grey cast aluminum and sound powered.

I have a similar handset on this Navy phone. It locks right in the phone and it will not move...Doug
