Here is a SC 1543 type phone with a 500 conversion housing.

You can occasionally find these sets, the easiest 'tell' is the feet of the phone, if it has the early feet.
I am just mentioning it because some collectors are not aware these conversion housings were made.

An interesting set indeed, and certainly not one that I was aware of.
Here's the base showing the feet that Jim mentioned.

These "New Image" sets won't always have the "old" 1543 feet, just as some of the later production 1543's had round feet. What I noticed when I first found one is that they are actually WIDER in the front than in the back. If any of you know John Novack, he collects the New Image cases and may now have every color. I have acquired quite a few 1543's in-the-box over the years, and sometimes come across the SC "New Image" conversion kits where in the box there is a New Image body, hard-wired handset cord, and a new, G-type handset.
