Strange phone on a UK forum, I see no reason for the strange wiring .

That's a new one on me.

I saw that thread. Never seen anything like those internals, nor the baseplate markings.

As an aside, I do wish folks would remember to add an external image of the phone being discussed. Not everyone knows what a '746' (etc etc) is/looks like.

Example red 746 shown below (not the phone under discussion).

Yikes, my bad :-[, I didn't mean you (or dsk). You did great adding all those images.

Just my observation that many times folks post interior, often close up, photos without an image of the exterior. We don't all know/remember model numbers of phones so an image would be nice, and even helpful if the exterior has an unusual feature which may/may not have been noticed/mentioned by the o.p.

It's like putting a face to a name.
