The Queen is on the telephone to the Prime Minister.

I'm a little surprised as the ventilation slots suggest a 746 but the cord suggests an 8746 or ... an illicitly converted 746?

I recall hearing some time ago that phones in the British royal households do not have dials. Calls are made on behalf of/put through, by the household staff.

Phones include a Bakelite GPO 200/300 telephone, an AEI/Siemens 'Horseshoe' telephone, the GPO 700 series and holding what looks like a W.E. (G3?) handset.

I do like photos of the Queen using old telephones - thanks for posting, Owain & Fab.

I think it is safe to say that Her Majesty is an admirer of classic rotary phones, though she looks rather doubtful about the AEG  AEI Horseshoe phone in that picture.

For comparison, photo below of rear of mine from a similar angle (phone dated 1983).

Sure that's not my one?    Building works here mean everything is permanently grubby and no phones getting any attention until I can refind stuff and put everything in it's (new) place.

The (W.E.?) phone shown on this third photo is interesting. Supposedly 'at a desk in Buckingham Palace'. 1959. If so I would suspect it was a gift and is for display purposes only.

I don't think you can be sure it is an 8756 as the case is the same whether they have a dial (8746), pulse keypad (8756), or tone keypad (8782). I'm not sure what the CB version number is, but the case is also the same one.
