Currently coming down to the end of an auction on eBay...item number 271193760156.

"Vintage Western Electric 202 Desk Telephone w/D-1 Style Base"

Am I wrong...isn't that an SC base?  (...covered with mustard?)
SC base ..AE dial ...WE handset....not even good mustard on it.....Doug

Vintage telephone Western Electric? Old Phone

VERDICT:  A Western Electric 333 Common Battery Wall Telephone

Missing a mouthpiece and receiver cap, probably been repainted to cover the corrosion that these things seem to attract.  Looks like the seller guessed correctly.  With a $60 BIN it should not last too long, especially with the old card holder.

Is this a polite way of saying that this is a SC phone with a WE handset (matching mustard)? If so I Concur.

This one is back again.  I e-mailed this seller to explain that this is definitely not a WE a while back, yet this still pops up.  Sellers like this are why I started this thread.  They know it is not a Western Electric, yet they try to cover themselves with the "?".

I don't believe the box is WE anyway. They didn't use that kind of "catch" to keep the door closed.

Two more from the same seller. Were these from the Shreveport, Louisiana Western Electric plant or the Indianapolis, Indiana WE plant? (Trick question)

Seller says "Western Electric Vintage Phone" but most likely took that off of the bottom of the 3 dry cell can included with the "phone".

So, what is this, anyway? An old intercom? Looks home made. Is it? That PTT button is interesting. And must be a small magneto . . .

WE 8A transmitter and WE 635A transmitter. Looks like an AE induction coil.
