Hello All!

I recently bought a Model 302. I noticed it has this knob (pictured below) and when turned clockwise it shuts off the ringer. It also appears to have another terminal block inside. Does anyone know what this might have been for?

Thanks,
Matteo

The model number and date of assembly are probably stamped on the bottom of the phone. It is probably a 410, not a 302.

As originally configured, the phone could pick up two separate lines. The key (knob) was used to connect to either the first line or the second line. And the key could be pushed down to signal another extension.

Your phone was modified to use the key as a ringer cut-off. There was a different model -- the 305 -- that was specifically designed for ringer cut-off, and it had an off-on tag.

For single line use, rewiring the telephone as shown is a desirable  "do not disturb" feature.

There are several variations that look quite similar from the outside.

If the model number isn't printed on the bottom, look on the housing near the cord hole for a mounting code -- probably H or J followed by a number

The BSPs have descriptions of features and wiring diagrams. Many can be found in the TCI Library using searches like this:

Thank you both! I looked on the bottom, and it does say 410AC-3.
