Here is some pics of the Mississippi River I took.  I am traveling on vacation for a couple of days.  I wanted to share some pics with you.  They got some major rain, last Friday. Some roads where shut down.  This was the 1st time I seen the river, its really amazing.....The river is really HIGH....

That spot looks very familiar -- is it near Savanna on hwy 84?   I took an almost identical pic of that spot in the river a couple of years ago.

Yes, Savanna on HWY 84.  Coming from west Chicago, it was a mess due to all the rain, flooding....

I'm something of a bridge fan myself, and I've travelled to and photographed several bridges on the Mississippi River, as well as in Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas. I like this one you shot in Savanna. Looks to have been built in 1932, the golden age of bridgebuilding. I'd like to see it someday. My favorite of all the bridges I've ever visited is the one in Clarendon, Arkansas, built in 1931. It's a long, two-lane cantilever bridge not too dissimilar from this one. There's a whole site dedicated to historic bridges at http://www.bridgehunter.com/

Here in Michigan we're proud of the Mackinac (pronounced Mack-in-aw) bridge.  The bridge was opened in 1957 and connects the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan.  I believe it's still the longest suspension bridge "between anchorages" in the western hemisphere....longer even than the  Golden Gate in San Francisco.  It is a pretty sight to see the bridge against the blue water of the Straits of Mackinac....connecting lakes Huron and Michigan.
