eBay: Only AI descriptions allowed?

I have not sold anything on eBay in a lonnnnnng time.  Tonight I tried to list an item and went to copy/paste my text into the item description box.  The system would "refresh" and delete my text.  If I clicked "Use AI" it generated a description based on the title.  But if I tried to edit the AI-generated description the system would again refresh and delete my changes. Only eBay's AI text remained.  Has anyone else encountered this?

I don't really know how to copy and paste, so I just type it out, and I refuse to use AI.

I sell on eBay fairly regularly and haven't encountered any issues with using my own text. I do generally just type it in however rather than copy/paste.
I certainly avoid their AI as the descriptions on the listings I've seen that obviously use it are more like a bad advert than a useful description of the item.

I just posted yesterday by cut and paste without issue but did no "use AI" clicking first.

The AI feature creates a long, fluffy description which makes buyers feel good about your item without actually giving them any information about it.

Thank you all for your feedback.  I was able to copy/paste a description but only if it did it in one Control+V action.  on the first try.  Maybe it's my browser - I like Firefox but the majority use Edge or Chrome.

Larry, agree with long and fluffy bit, but it kills my interest in an item as it makes me think that the seller couldn't be bothered to write something useful. The AI also generates statements such as "it is sure to impress your guests" (this was for a TV) and I'm wondering if you could raise an "item not as described" case with eBay if it didn't do that? ::)

Maybe if they got enough complaints about "Not as Advertised" items because of the AI they'd drop
AI from their format. Of course if eBay is run by AI now and complaints just end up going to some
AI for review.......

On a computer keyboard, highlight text to be copied, press Ctrl & C together, put your cursor where you want to paste the copied text and press Ctrl & V together.

You can do this on a phone as well but without a keyboard, you have to use touch screen controls which are too complex to explain in text. Google search "cut and paste on an iPhone" for how-to instructions.
