I just came across this download of a book that first appeared in 1892. It clearly describes the very early receivers, transmitters and the patent situation at that time, as well as magnetos, ringers and exchanges. I have not looked through it completely, but the download seems to be complete and worth saving, it's only 6.5 Mbit for the 294 pages.
