Post your "Find of the Month" here.

A "Find of the Month" is a telephone or a related item that you acquired during the month that you are particularly excited about either because of its rarity, the difficulty you had in trying to find it for your collection or the exceptional "deal" that you got on it. Other than that, any discussion of or comments about the nominated phone are not allowed, FOTM nominations only. As stated below, "Ideally your item would be (first) posted in its own thread elsewhere on the forum" and if so, "the forum link if discussed in another topic" is to be included in the nomination reply.

If a significant discussion of a nominated phone starts in a FOTM topic, it will be moved to a new "discussion" topic in the appropriate board and if not, then simply removed.

The "Find of the Month" contest is focused on the collection of telephones rather than on their sale for a profit. To be eligible for the "Find of the Month" contest:

- The finder must have personally acquired and actually own the item.
- The item can be acquired for free but it can not be a gift or present from anyone.
- The item (or any of its components) cannot be put up for sale during the contest period.
- Only one "Find" per owner can be in a "Find of the Month" contest.

A Nomination Should Include:

1) where and/or how the item was found.
2) the price & shipping cost.
3) the forum link to the topic discussing the find.
4) the eBay link if won there.
5) other information of importance about the find (why the item is very important to you for any reason).
6) and one or two pictures of the item.

Ideally your item would be posted in its own thread elsewhere on the forum such as "Auction Talk", "Flea Market/Yard Sale Finds" or "Collectors Corner" Board. Then you or anyone else can nominate your "Find" to the Current "Find of the Month" thread by posting at least one picture and other details including the price paid, any shipping costs and a link to the original discussion on the forum. It is not a requirement that your find be posted elsewhere on the forum but the more details the better.

Nominations of phones listed in other forum discussion topics, by members that do not own the item but realize it is indeed a "find" worthy of being nominated as a "Find of the Month" candidate, are always welcome.

Please pick your best "Find" to submit for the month limiting your entry to one phone or one "Find" that might include limited multiple items. If you have already entered for the month and come up with something even better either submit your new find indicating that it replaces your previous entry OR you can enter your new Find in next months contest.

May I nominate my Kellogg '1901' desk stand with OST receiver and Steer Horn hook.

A lucky find, especially in the UK. These were only made for one year 1900-1901, so not too many of them about.
As I understand it, 1901 transmitters were marked 'Patented', this is marked 'Patent Applied For', so dates it as an earlier (1900) model.

Cost was about $90.

I will nominate my early 11/50 Western Electric 500 gotten for $25 and $26 shipping, but the seller refunded $8 as the shipping was a bit cheaper. So a total of $43

A pilot series telephone from Norway!  We were late with touch tone, and this was made in several test versions from 1975 t0 80 before the ended up withthe first std. push button telephone called Tastafon

Picked it up on the way home from job and payed NOK 200  or about $20

~

It looks like just another 51-AL,it's my first 51-AL. As her Christmas gift from her I was to buy this phone. Purchased from another member, Jason aka, soundsystems, it was everything I wanted, all for $125.00! Happened on this thread:

The phone its self, looks to be nearly 100% original, a proud addition to my collection!

Throwing my name in the hat again.  6-55 booth with 233G and sign.  All for $1000.
Second photo is after cleanup.  I changed out the phone with one that was in better shape paint wise.

I am nominating my 3/55 Western Electric 501 in Mahogany Brown.

So far I have done a once over with magic eraser and goo-gone.  For this restoration-so-far picture, I have given it a temporary dial center (the original was cardboard typed on a cereal box) and a black Koiled Kord which is badly damaged. I may try repairing this cord, then lightly spray painting the cord with Krylon for Plastics dark walnut.  I also have a ITT brown cord on the way from ebay--it is NOS but likely not fat and juicy enough to do this phone justice.  As mentioned in the original listing, I got this phone in a box of three for $20 added on by the seller to a local pick-up for two different phones purchased on ebay for $12.95 (ebay listing pictured). Also in this original listing is a picture of the two piece transmitter cup for the G3 handset and the intact 426A tube I found when I got it home. Finally, pictured here is yet another neat finding hidden inside--the older style spider I found holding the broken fingerwheel and cereal box lid dial card on.
