Anyone know the thread sizes and if the screws on an AE faceplate are different, or the same, as a WE faceplate?

Round head 2-56, 4-40 and 4-36 in 1/4" ring a bell but I haven't worked on a stick for so long I can't remember which.

2-56. WE made their own screws, which are close to 2-56, but not exactly.

Newer WE  transmitter cups and remanufatured ones required round head shoulder screws.

Various vendors have them.

McMaster-Carr is one:

$6.57 plus shipping for 100 round head, slotted, 1/4" long brass 2-56 screws.

Brass heads can be easily blackened several ways.

It's been a while since I bought a pack of 40, from a Radio Shack store.  ;) They were steel but not stainless steel (stainless steel makes it much more difficult to get a black patina on them to match the cup) and blacken up really nice.

If they are 2-56, it is easy to find many sources on Ebay, just search for 2-56 round head.  Most with free shipping.

Yes, and about the same total price as McMaster-Carr for the same screw, same quantity.

Problem with the less expensive ones on eBay is that they are stainless steel.

This eBay source sells 25 brass for $8.10 or 100 brass for $12.00, both with free shipping (total is a bit more than McM-C).

There are many other sellers on eBay besides this first one I found selling 2-56 brass screws with a slotted round head. One thing nice about McMaster-Carr, or another bulk hardware seller of which there are quite a few, you can select the thread size, the length, the head type, metal type, "slot" type and quantity - all in one place.

And, unless you find a hobbyist that is selling original WE round head, shouldered, 2+?-56 cup screws, that original "made for WE" screw is not available from any screw sellers.
