Found this along the way today.
Well that's encouraging to see. We had white stuff falling all day here... Can't wait for warmer weather!
Nice! We have 20-30 cm of the white stuff too, it was delivered on the weekend... with a 15 degree Celsius temperature drop (-12°C right now, +10°F)
Not unheard of here, and some may say it's not even really cold 8) but it came a little unexpected. Traffic breakdown included.
:) we had what I call, a "California" winter here in Idaho... the snow stayed in the mountains and the weather in the valley has been mild.... just like in California.... this is the 3rd year in a row this has happend.... climate change, and local climate change.... the open farmland around here is pretty much gone, so the area has heated up with new buildings and people effecting the climate... kind of scary when you used to have a white christmas almost every year.... now we are having a green christmas.... wonder if this next winter we are in for the same.... scary thought.....

Very good ;D - and yikes!
Thankfully these are the only Snowflakes we have here. :)
It really has gone cold here too ... minus 8 last night in Suffolk.
Snow etc.
Don't forget to cover yr outside taps!
Most of our current weather is coming up from the equator. It's keeping it in the 50's and 60's F.
I guess I'll be putting the A/C on line tomorrow. I think it only got very cold while my furnace was out of order. I hope the new HV service to the system makes a good difference in it's performance.
Yesterday was beautiful, 60 degrees, and today was a high of 46, but it wasn't cold, not like it has been..
So I'm looking forward to the glacier to melt in my driveway next week when it rains. Ahh better days are ahead.
I dug up a monster iris that I had... have over 10 babies... the weather here is getting nice, in the 50's now. the only drawback is the snow in the mountains.... the wind comes off the mountains and keeps everything cold still.... it doesn't warm up here until around 2PM.......... I'll be glad when we get to the 22nd! then the sun will be in the northern hemisphere... thank goodness, winter is pretty much over!
I have a couple of clusters of purple iris in my front yard. They and the cactus are the flowers this old brown thumb can keep in shape.
Well it's going to be a while before flowers pop up in these parts, tonight we have high winds and it's hard sleeping with high winds knocking limbs down hitting the roof, oh well hope march goes out like a lamb.
where are you located ken?
We stained the wrap around covered porch yesterday. Beautiful day and breezy enough that it dried in one day.
Just finished putting the wicker back on.
Never has this been done before it started to green up....Doug
John I'm in East central New Hampshire.
And yet again the weather changed its mind as to the wind. It was very calm last night and eairly this morning. But about 10:15 or so it started to blow like crazy, now at 4:40 it's calmed down quite a bit.
Colder for the next serval days expected then back in the upper 40's.
Got spoiled the past few days it was actually very nice.
But it's got colder today.. Well I'm being patient waiting for warmer weather to melt the ice and snow.
Ran the A/C today. 76 out.
I'm looking forward to that temp around here...
yup! got up to the mid 60's here in Boise today! switched the thermostats over to COOL for the rest of the season.... the heating season seems to be over for me here now....
Things are blooming in the 80 degree weather here.
Today slid the rest of the snow off the roof.
Yea happy to see sure signs of SPRING!
68. SUNNY after some snow melt fell from the sky.
This is nice.. Ahh finally.

Yup, we got to 84 degrees here in Ft Lauderdale today! We don't get spring, just right into summer!
So two seasons..? Summer and winter.
Not really. Basically just summer.
Oh yea, your way down there.. Forgot that.
Yup, South Florida. We get a few cool mornings, maybe as low as 40 degrees and a couple of cool days, high 50's. That's about it for winter. Another 80 degree day today.
The spring pollen storms have come on with a vengeance. when there is a breeze it looks like a cross between the smoke from a forest fire and a dust storm. Everything outside is covered in yellow. When it is done the whole mess will turn black.
it was in the mid 70's here in Boise on Sunday, only to have 40's today! suppose to be back in the 70's by this weekend! the daffidoils are blooming, tulips are getting ready to bud out and the lilacs are waking up! looking forward to april!
Well it will be a couple months before pollen starts going like that. The pine pollen is the worse, like you said it's like yellow clouds in the air coating everything in yellow.
Well I like it better than white stuff.. And temps in the 20s. So I can put up with some for a month or so.
:) Woke up to a small amount of snow today ;)
Best wishes from Hakadal, Norway!
Beautiful scenery.. We called snow poor man's fertilizer for years around here. It seems to make everything greener later.
Winter was pretty puny here this last season. It's starting out with what used to be summer temperatures here.
we had an extremely light winter here in Idaho too, cooled off today, again.... felt like snow this afternoon... now its clearing out and cold... suppose to be back into the 70's by friday....
The Spring flowers are in bloom, but the ground is still soft and an old dead tree next to the house which was in excess of 80 feet tall and already dangerously on a near 40 degrees tilt decided to lean even more, so had to be felled.
First image shows just how large (and hollow) the trunk was. We counted well over 120 rings, so this tree was over 120 years old - with a huge Frelon (Hornet) nest way up inside. :o
Just some of the logs for the wood burners. More to come. This should last us a while....
Around here those are called widow makers.
Because you never know when a limb will fall and konk you on the head.
Back in my early 20's I helped my boss remove 5 of these in a row, hardhats were used but hardly useful in the event a huge branch comes down on you.
Glad you took it down, those are too dangerous to leave.
I had my widow maker cut 3 years ago The shade was nice, the leaves, blended with sycamore balls, and the debris falling from the tree weren't.
This photo was taken this afternoon. This tall Pear Tree is the oldest in the Orchard. The photo was to show the Pear Blossom, thousands of flowers, but the cloud came over so it is a somewhat moody photo instead (if you click on the photo you can see how laden this tree is with blossom).
The early morning frosts however are causing issues. I read today some Vineyard owners are burning large candles to warm the air lest the fruit be lost. Others are spraying with water (think igloo), others are hiring helicopters to disperse the cold air.
Last year we planted a small vineyard here. We lost all blossom to a freak hailstorm (the size of marbles which cut through the leaves/plants), and heavy winds. The vines survived so fingers crossed for a bunch of grapes or two this year.... 8)
Well, for the first time in quite a few years I got my snow blowers put away for the summer.
I can't remember the last time I was able to so that in early April. But I'm fine with that.
The ground is firming up and the snow in my yard is all gone. Yipee!
I hope this isn't a omen of a sizzlin hot summer.
Yea I know what you mean. But there is always a trade off somewhere. Easy winter hot summer, easy summer snowy winter.. Unless you live in the southern states then it might be better? I don't know if that's a trade off either.
well, here in Boise the weather can't make up its mind..... warm, cold, warm, cold wind, still, wind..... I'm ready for better weather here... I'm tired of these "Mood Swings"
At least you're living in Boise, though...
Today was rather nice, partly cloudy and high of 72.
I think that's pretty darn good for early April.
I can remember years and we would he getting snow still, thanks a nasty April fools joke mother nature played. But then she's not known for her sense of humor.
all the trees are budding out... and the seeds that come with them.... this is the part of spring I hate.... the trees drop all these seeds and if you don't clean them up, you have seedlings sprouting up in areas you don't want them.... so frustrating....
We have quite a few squirrels around here. One will get up in the tree and nip off the seed clusters and if they do enough of them that the ones on the ground can't get to, they run down and get the ones that are left. they do it the whole seed time.
Well this is crazy.. I just heard we are getting a nor easter on Friday.. 6 plus inches of snow ??
And the next day will be in the high 50s and next week will be in the mid and upper sixtys.
This should be interesting.
You know your getting old when, you freak out about a snow storm in late April.
The NWS did it again.. They caled out for a storm at first 6 inches, then was 4 to 6, and 4 to 8, n 4 to 10.
If your on the east coast, yea there is white fertilizer falling, I call it poor man's fertilizer. Because it always brings out the green in grass every time.
Stay safe out there folks! :)
It had been in the 80s recently, but it cooled off into the 70s yesterday and today. The pollen storms are still on.
