In another chat, someone asked why am I doing all this hard work?

Ha, because it is very cold io the winter here so a stimulating project to keep my mind active is necessary!

I still needed the RS232 device to control the Hi 1200/Low 300 modem speed.
Dialing, I needed RS366 to use the Old Bell System ACU.

I am on VoIP, so I could have written a program to send a SIP INVITE message to my provider, but that is NO FUN!

Auto Answer is in SETTINGS > Accessibility > Touch > Call Audio Routing
Ours is set to 3 seconds - which is minimum possible
Now no need to touch the cell phone when a call comes in!

Different ring tones for different people calling in.
CONTACTS
Display their name
EDIT
Scroll down to Ringtone, then > to Ringtone list

Quote from: HarrySmith on Yesterday at 09:06:38 AMIt is Vern's but I did not get it, at least not yet. I am considering it. I just bought a 500 E/F from him so I am not in a postion to buy another right now. Funny you recognized his workbench ;D

There's only one person that has a bench that looks like that Harry.
Did you also see that that phone has a white RUBBER cord on it instead
of it's original cloth covered cord?

Thank you.
Need to answer all calls because there may be new or unknown hospital numbers.

Could not find any categories in this iPhone 15.

On my Iphone, I went through my contacts and set ringtones by category.  For the default, I have something quiet and unobtrusive.  If your phone supports IOS 26, there is a call screening feature where unknown numbers essentially go to voicemail without ringing.

Can a ringtone not be set for the individual caller?
PRESTO, the most noticeable ringtone, is set for hospital and police dispatch numbers.
Other ringtones for wife and others.
Now only one ringtone for every telephone number??

Thank you.

Our iPhone X (10) finally phailed.
In 1-ring it would auto answer without my touching anything.
(Perfect when driving blood platelets redightsiren and police or hospital calls.)

Wife gave me her old iPhone 15 Pro Max. (She gets new, I get hers.)
Can iPhone 15 not Auto Answer?   Found nothing in Settings

Thank you.

I'd leave the old ringer connected to the magneto for historical show and tell and install a C4A which will match the capacitor on the network and put less of a load on the ring generator.

The network might have a number embossed on the side with all the terminals, otherwise it might have to be removed momentarily to see what's stamped on its side. Only needed if doing anything with the writing. The C4A ringer would use the capacitor in the network between A and K terminals.

As an FYI, I stuck a C4A ringer into the lower battery box of a "AE Self Contained Railroad Wayside Booth Phone" leaving the AE ringer hooked to the magneto, both isolated from the POTS circuit - that phone had a 101A induction coil in it.
