New forum member, 19 years and counting with AT&T, and Iíve been collecting for several years now. It all started with trying to find the oldest protectors, from there it went to Bell System tools, then I ďneededĒ a candlestick phone, by the then the disease had become terminal. More photos to come.

Welcome, that is quite a collection, I see you have a lot of test equipment, and being with AT&T for all those years, I see why.

If someone asks me ďwhere did you contract this phoneitis?Ē, Iíd have to say from that darned 29b protector! I swear I think it really is a disease. But yeah, if anybody needs a protector, Iíve got spares!

That is a nice collection of butt sets.
The one in the middle, with the small dial: Is it known who made this type of dial? I have a german "Elmeg" lineman's hand set that looks quite similar, could it be that it was made under license or with US imported parts?
It's likethis one: (https://image.jimcdn.com/app/cms/image/transf/dimension=432x10000:format=jpg/path/s69fe05db4460e9aa/image/i8f27a1ea142032bc/version/1453030715/telefon-pr%C3%BCfhandapparat-fa-elmeg-n%C3%BCrnberg-ausgabe-1.jpg)

Mine is a Western Electric model 1011B.  The dial on yours looks too similar to be anything else in my opinion.

Thank you, I'll have to investigate into that. Unfortunately, the rubber case of my Elmeg is quite brittle and I'm afraid I might break it if I try to open it.
The Elmeg butt set was used in larger numbers by Deutsche Bundespost techs until the mid 1980ies.

If I had to tear it up to know for sure, I would just assume it was and leave it at that.

I have thought about this, and I have checked with the kids. They aren't interested. They did say to leave info regarding the valuable phones.

I decided am going to start liquidating my permanent  collection at phone shows  after I retire. I will start with the ones I like least.
It will be a fun way to spend some retirement time and will give me cash for other projects.
With luck I will have less than 100 good phones left when I die.
In the meantime, I still have 100's of phones, lots of parts and a large telephone library that aren't part of the collection, These I will sell or trade at any time.
JMO,
Jim S.

NOTE: I do realize that I will still be buying cool phones at phone shows  (for the collection) when I am retired.

I have been told that 'as a rule of thumb' it take a minimum of twice as long  to sell a collection piecemeal as it did to build it.
My first phone item is a mountain states safety cone that I found in the Summer of 1969.

The easiest way to sell phone  collections is as a collection or in smaller  groupings. Doesn't cash out as well, but it is easier.

I had seen that one advertised, nice booth. I just sold mine, one just like it this past summer.
They are very heavy and need a few healthy guys to move it. They are one of those type of things that once in place, you leave in place.

That sure looks like it is in excellent condition. Doesn't look like the inside has any graffiti.

Do you know where the Phone booth was located when in service?

Find of the month my friend!....Doug

It is in pretty good shape, no graffiti.  It was originally located in Yazoo City, MS.  The man I bought it from got it from his dad, who was the plant manager who removed it from service.  I wanted to get the exact location but he said he didnít know and his dad has Alzheimerís.  Heís going to check with his other family members and see if they remember.  It still has the original 1979 Yazoo City phone book in it.  The phone was removed from service in Jackson, MS.  Iím gonna dig into it today and see what I got.

How many variations of vault doors do you guess you currently  have ?

My guess is more than you thought.

I would call your vault door collection "Large". And that is just from the photos you post.
Cool Collection,
JMO,
Jim
Just for fun you could post your guess of number of variations
Followed up by a physical count.....

See what I mean,
You have  an Impressive collection of vault doors.
