Must be one of those novelty phones? I just wish the seller specified where the transmitter and receiver are as there could be several locations. I think the seller may take a lose on the shipping,

Haha! :D Wow, I've never seen that before!!
Western Electric - A unit of the Bell System and main supplier of AT&T since 1882! -15 year old phone collector!

That looks lie a 1930s model :)

.....

One of a kind, that's for sure.  :o

The same seller is offering matching Japanese porcelain: http://www.ebay.com/itm/311640388415.  The phone does not look like a Japanese model though.  Similar to the French phones which include a "mother-in-law receiver", this one apparently has a "father-in-law receiver"  ;D.

And don't forget the Top 40, whatever that is because like the other two listings the seller has not provided any other pictures or a description for any of the 3 items.

I don't think this is the case here but I've always wondered about these type of strange listings, like the empty well used cardboard box with debris in the bottom, as to what is going on. In this case, the seller has a 100% feedback rating on over 12,000 replies so I doubt anything is going on here other than either a forgetful, lazy or busy seller who has not had time to finish the listing even thought they were 5 day, and two 7 day listings started 2 or so days ago.

eBay screen shots for posterity.

EBay no longer allows you to publish a listing without at least one photo included. At one time, you could go ahead and list without pictures, then add the photos later -- or never. My guess is that the seller posted these as temporary "place holders."

All three of these listings have been cancelled by the seller as having had an error in the listing. As for the seller, all of the listings were up several days so he must have forgotten to go back and put in a good picture, or something else. Strange, indeed.

LarryInMichigan

I would have thought that these listings would have been grandfathered and therefore not canceled ;D.

I guess these would fall under the heading of a rose by any other name would still be . . .

Hard to believe so many sellers do this. And with the price of the stick being so low (with 3 available), it's tempting to buy one and see what shows up, a brass stick in mint condition with an OST and #2 dial?

The links to these images are:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BELL-CANDLESTICK-TELEPHONE-BRASS-AND-BAKELITE-WORKS-/172267913244  (3 available, really?)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-WORKING-WESTERN-ELECTRIC-BLACK-DESK-DIAL-TELEPHONE-1955-/172267912011  (2 available, really?)

with the description for both of the above being identical and a bit strange: "ge our buyer's items, on a rare occasion things get damaged in the USPS shipping process.  Because of this we strongly feel that insurance on any items that are delicate and breakable is necessary.  Therefore we will add the cost of insurance (calculated according to the value of the item and by using the USPS calculator) to the price of the item as part of the handling fee."

with the description interesting, will the buyer get a radio or a signed selfie of the seller: "This item has been inspected and has no parts missing. Some minor details might have been overlooked during inspection, Please look closely at photos. The item you see in picture is the item you will receive."

I personally  like the last one, the radio, best in that the sellers decided to use a selfie as the listing image . . .  ::)

Seriously, what's going on? 4 more similar listings at low price, multiple units available and one wrong picture. This can't be accidental or a coincidence, can it?

I noticed these listings and though that I might comment if the opportunity arose.  This is a thorny issue but a fragrant violation of ebay's policies ;D

You and Larry seem to have purrrrfectly analyzed the issue.

Heart this! The saga continues, and I don't have a clue as to what's going on with any of these.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Working-Western-Electric-Harvest-Gold-Princess-Antique-Telephone-Nice-RING-/122046582084  (3 available)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Western-Electric-French-Style-Rotary-Dial-Phone-Perfect-Working-Order-/122046578556 (2 available)

Different seller, different location, same format and multiple available. How can a seller have 2 or 3 identical old phones for sale?
