*** The "Find of the YEAR" for 2019 ***   VOTE FOR THREE

It is time once again to vote for the VERY BEST "Find" from all of the "Find of the Month" winners through 2019.

Take a few minutes to go through the list below. John "TelePlay" has created one post per entrant along with the brief details, a link to the original nomination and the separate topic on CRPF if there was one, and has included one picture of each contestant. The pictures are from the Find of the Month Winners List that John maintains of all of the winners.

There are twelve contestants to choose from so lets do THREE VOTES EACH and see who wins the coveted (limited edition) "Find of the YEAR - 2019" trophy!

Everyone should be able to come up with three favorites here so please try to use all THREE of your votes. If you inadvertently vote for less than three contestants, click the "Remove Vote" button at the bottom left of poll and then place your THREE VOTES again.

Thanks John for taking the time to put yet another "Find of Year" contest together. Much appreciated!

Jim . . .

This poll will start after the December 2019 contest ends.
I would like to thank John (Teleplay) for  helping me with these contests . It isn't easy  to persuade him to log on.
Thanks John

TelePlay posted this about it:

I would like to nominate Scott's date matching 1954 Rose Beige WE 500 that he found on eBay with a BIN price of $48.50 plus $18 for shipping. The phone has age related crud issues making it a bit of a restoration project but overall, it's in great condition and it came with straight, grey handset and line cords. One of the Big Four soft plastic colors at a very good price.

May I enter my Mix & Genest 'Weltruf' Deskset. It was €85.87 + €15.99 P&P - worked out at about £92 total after conversion. The unusual design of the cradle and the dial attracted me. I won't forget its name as I'm 'well chuffed' with my 'Weltruf'!

oldguy posted this about it:

I would like to submit the Imperial I picked up this on shopgoodwill.com for find of the month. I paid $11.95 + $9.97 shipping +$2.00 handling = $23.72. In the pictures it looked like it had an ivory thermoplastic handset, a good open center finger wheel & a good leather bottom. When I got it, it did indeed have a thermoplastic handset & the rest. The body is a little rough & it has a vinyl handset cord.  I have a nice ivory WE 354 with a G handset & another Imperial with a brass colored finger wheel. So just for parts I think it was a good deal. I'm not sure what I will do with it yet but I'm happy with the find.

I'd like to nominate my "Dark Gold" 302. A Facebook Marketplace find for $45. A special find, as it is my first "rare" phone, and my first colored 302. This find has an amazing backstory, all the way from New York City, to New Jersey, to Cleveland, all while staying in the same family.

SUnset2 posted this about it:

I hate to blow my own horn, but I'll post my latest acquisition anyway. It is a Western Electric 565 L 6 button key set in mahogany brown, dated 12/58.  All dates match except for the transmitter unit. Unusual features include a lifting Exclusion Key plunger, and the rightmost button is a turn knob with two positions (ringer cut-off?).  It also has spade tips on the end of the matching cable, rather than a 25 pair connector. It is in very good condition overall, with no cracks, and very few scratches.  It was missing the number card and designation card, so I added placeholders.

I'd like to nominate my apparently New Old Stock NE233QF paystation. I've never seen a 3-Slot in such good condition before; all original, unrestored, and never put into service! I found it on Facebook marketplace for $150 +shipping. Shipping cost set me back another $65, but I think it's worth it!

I will throw in my red AE 35. It's not perfect and still needs more work but it is a very hard to find monophone. Found in a box of phone parts by friends of mine on a road trip at an estate sale. $100 for the whole box. They sent me a picture to see if I would be interested in them. It will go next to my green 35 that I am still looking for a handset to go with it.

FABphones posted this about it:

For your consideration please, this 10 button 1965 W.E. 1234G, Touch Tone Paystation, in Moss Green. Very hard to find in the US - so cannot imagine how few of them there are in Europe. A lucky find. Inside appears untouched. It even still has it's little WE paper label attached with string. As to be expected it needs a bit of attention, but it is in pretty good condition for a 54 year old public payphone.
