I've bought too much in the last few days, so I'm not going to get this one:

Never mind, the seller changed the listing to $29 starting bid.

Mr. Bones

A lot of times that I've seen auctions which offer both a starting bid, and BIN, as soon as a bid is placed, the BIN option goes away.

Best regards!

How would that work? It still says 25.00 with 1 bid.

Whoops, I meant to say $25.

Christian, do you recall how much the BIN was?

Ben, unless there is a reserve, if there is both a starting bid and a BIN now price, then once there is a bid, the BIN now price disappears, as Mr. Bones pointed out.

For example, a seller could start a phone at $25 minimum bid, and also offer a BIN of $48. If someone looks at it and decides $48 is too much, but thinks he'll go ahead and bid $33, then since he is the only bidder, it will show $25. If a second person bids $27.04, then it will jump to the next increment above $27.04 with proxy bidding, leaving the first bidder (who bid $33) as the high bidder for now.

Poplar1, I believe the BIN price was $39.

I didn't know that the BIN price went away once someone bids, is that new?

Ben

It's been that way as long as I can remember. The only time the BIN price doesn't go away is if there is a reserve that hasn't yet been met.

BIN price disappearing upon the first regular bid was once the only option. Now, as poplar1 wrote, if the seller sets a reserve price, the BIN stays until the reserve is met.

If the original BIN was $39, the seller must be feeling pretty good.  It's bid up to $135 with 4+ days to go.

...and the first bidder who took away the BIN price to "get a bargain" is probably bummed.

When I read this topic shortly after it was created, I seriously thought of turning this auction into a contest but after searching eBay for "sold" 10 button phones, it seemed the high end would be $110 to $120 so dropped the contest idea. Will be interesting to see what happens at snipe time, to see how high it goes, if it does.

Dang, I should have gone for the 39 dollar BIN when I could have.

Mr. Bones

Sorry, Ben.

I learned the same way, sadly. ;)

Best regards!

Ahhhh, it's okay. I was heavily thinking about buying it, but after I looked at how discolored it is, and the incorrect case, I though I'd try to bid and win it for less..
