I was looking around in some old files and tripped over an old ebay auction. This auction is well over 12 years old.
It's interesting because it shows what was available as far as payphone parts back then. The payphone in the auction was brand new. Had been built probably a week before the auction was posted. However, the payphone was really well over 25 years old.????
Back then I was able to get brand new Automatic Electric parts. EVERY part including all the hardware to manufacture new ANTIQUE 3-slots.
This was at a time when AE (GTE) was emptying out their warehouses of 3-slot parts. I assume they were being sold for scrap value by the pound. Take a look at the picture of a 'BOXED" brand new AE bottom and a complete and TESTED (by GTE) LPC top.
It's interesting to see how times have changed. From memory I think an auction like that would have been won for slightly over $500.
Hopefully the attachment didn't get chopped up.
