Title: Pink 500...with Mushroom
Post by: JubileeCompact on March 13, 2021, 02:41:31 PM
Never thought one of these would appear this side of the pond.... And for a very reasonable price as well.

More details please.

If you are now the owner then please post to Find of the month. It is a great find

There was one recently on eBay US that was $300 or $400 . That is more than I would pay for a Pink mushroom.

That's the one... What voltage is the bulb on these? And I'm guessing the Yellow and Black are the pair to use?

I'm thinking it's same as a princess, about 10 volts.
For that set you did very good on the price

Transformer output for Princess lamp is 6-8 Volts AC. This is probably the same. 10 volts is too high (though correct for 51A lamps in keysets).

The one I mentioned has been relisted at $349.00 starting,  BIN $499.
It has a repro cap.

text from listing:
A really nice Pink 1959 Western Electric 500 P/U Mushroom desk phone.  Has 1959 base, network, bells and dial (7C 59 (Pink), 11-59), all dates are correct.  The plastics are really nice, color is good, not faded or discolored, the mushroom cap is a reproduction.  Has its original mounting cord and an NOS 9' handset cord. Comes with the transformer and wiring for the light (wires just like a Princess phone).

Freshly restored, fully tested and works perfect, including the light. The plastics show light signs of use.

I didn't win the Blue one as a friend was after it...
I'd assume both would have fetched a good deal more if they had been US auctions...

Was the mushroom light a accessory that was added to the phones like the link key?
You could use a 4 pair RJ45 cord with that phone to get a clean one cord out of the back effect;

Pair 1 bl/wt = line 1
pair 2 or/wt = line 2 (intercom)
pair 3 = gn/wt push button on line key (signal)
pair 4 = br/wt 8V for lamp

EDIT never mind I see it has the original cord wired into a phone jack.
