The link in the above reply has a "color" drop down box with several choices and another drop down box for number of conductors, 2, 3 or 4 (with 4 having a $2.50 premium - total $17.50).

Glad they're around, the prices look good!
But, I can't tell what the color is.  I'm trying to replace all the cords in brown.

Candlestick Phones / Make Replacement Wood Bottom C...
Last post by SUnset2 - April 16, 2026, 01:16:06 PM
I recently got a Stromberg-Carlson tapered shaft oilcan candlestick telephone.

The nickel plating is in terrible condition; I'll wait to decide if I want to replate it or just leave the patina as-is.

But, it is missing the bottom cover.  From pictures I've seen these were wood, and covered with felt.

I want to make a reproduction cover.  I'm guessing these were solid wood, and not plywood.  Does anybody have one, and can measure the thickness of the bottom cover?

I haven't used an Automatic Electric bulldog transmitter, but assuming it is similar to the WE, the advantage is better sound quality; the disadvantage would be that it doesn't look as old-fashioned.

Collector's Corner / 500E/F Pics
Last post by HarrySmith - April 16, 2026, 12:09:54 PM
More pictures. Last one is of my 302 model.
I think I am going to add a dial to the 500 so it matches the 302.

I mentioned the other day I finally aquired a WE 500 E/F. I have been wanting one for a while to go with my 302 model. I have only seen a couple offered for sale, both at unreasonable high prices. I got this from our fellow member Vern for what I thought was a good price. I will post more photos after I finish cleaning it up. It has a pretty cool advertising cover on the numer card holder too. More pictures in next post.

Made few modifications of the prototype mounting bracket to make assembly easier.

I noticed a few variances with the Western Electric aluminum extrusions, likely the foundry.
So making next version slightly relaxed.
