More dead payphones.

Images 1 & 2 is a pay phone at a Mobil Gas Station (503 Boulevard Rd SE Olympia, Wash.), image 3 is a booth that's at a Shell gas station (2303 Pacific Ave SE Olympia, Wash., a block away from images 1 & 2), and image 4 is at a Safeway gas station (14449 124th Ave NE Kirkland, Wash.) with a Verizon-turned Wimactel enclosure.

Am I the only one who thinks it is a bit strange to find 3 pay phones in a front yard and a full phone booth (rarely seen anywhere nowadays) on the street nearby?

They must be owned by a collector, but that does not explain the one that is on the public right-of-way.  Perhaps he installed it there just for fun to see what would happen, and because it looks "official," no nobody ever questioned it or complained.

Also, notice each one has different telephone company name.

Yeah, I have only one phone booth in my yard :-)

A few more on Admiral Way & in Bellingham:

The red K-6 booth is at Skylarks Cafe in Bellingham (1308 11th St) and doesn't have a phone in it (I could be wrong, but if it does, it's disconnected).

Hey everyone,

The Western Electric pay phone attached to Kalaloch Lodge (click here) is gone, but the other two in booths click here) are still there but disconnected.

I found a Northern Telecom Centurion phone at the Forks Visitor Center & an Autelco (Automatic Electric) 3-slot on display at the neighboring Forks Timber Museum (see photos).

Along the way to Kalaloch campground I also passed numerous other phones that I've documented before in this post & this post.

Quote from: Westrex on June 11, 2023, 07:36:41 PMI went to Mt. Vernon yesterday, this phone booth is still there, although it's a bit janky and somebody has put red paint on the keypad (also kinda ironic that it's a Pacific Bell phone in a GTE booth). I also found another pay phone at River Rock Tobacco & Fuel (23704 13th Ave NE Arlington) while pulling in for gas (I've tried to contact Frontier Communications, about repair of this phone, but I haven't been able to successfully contact them yet). On the way back in Mt. Vernon, I found an old exchange probably from the Bell System era. Pictures attached.

Unfortunately, the GTE booth with a Pacific Bell branded phone at 205 W Kincaid St. in Mount Vernon has been removed.

However a GTE booth and AE 120 phone remain (with no Dial tone) at Mountain Loop General Store (32005 Mountain Loop Hwy, Granite Falls, WA). Another booth can be found on S. Lake Stevens Rd. here with a GTE 2200-style US WEST branded phone.

Quote from: Westrex on April 21, 2024, 01:30:51 PMHere's a surviving pay phone at Noah's Grocery. I didn't have time to stop to check for dial tone, so I'll have to check it later.

Quote from: Westrex on June 04, 2023, 10:46:38 AMShould also mention that a lot of the phones on the above list that are gone still have the enclosures left, such as the phone at the SR 522 76 gas station, Shoreline 145th St. Post Office, HT Oak Tree Market, and other phones.

And the phones at the Westwood Village QFC are now gone. Here's a look of where they were, and their numbers: https://www.payphone-project.com/working-payphones-found-in-seattle.html.

And the singular pay phone at the Kenmore Safeway gas station is now gone. It was next to the air pump.

If you see this pay phone on the way up to Paradise Lodge on Mt. Rainier next to a tiny old gas station, the phone is disconnected.
