What is on the bottom of this phone? Did something leak out of the phone? Do you think it can be cleaned? I wonder if the phone works.

It looks like corrosion to me, it probably got wet.  I doubt that it will come off, but it is on the bottom.

Looks like a bit of damp corrosion to me as well and likely won't come off completely. Whether it works or not is the gamble you have to be prepared to take. I've had worse looking corrosion on phones that still work perfectly and have had non-functional but perfect looking ones.

Note that the celebrity was made in blue,  ivory and black.

We haven't found a standard Western Electric color code for seafoam green.

If this one looks green, it is either painted or more likely faded blue. Long term UV exposure added yellow to the original color producing a turquoise or greenish shade.

Trying to restore it to the original color (if desired) is a project. (Search for options on the forum.)

That is blue plastic discolored to green. You can see the dirty coiled handset cord is still blue.

And having restored color to many phones, I would not try it with this phone. To many curves, corners, grooves and parts. And then you risk the possibility that the plastic over time has become brittle and will either not be able to be color restored (the discoloration runs too deep) and/or the hardened plastic will crack or break during color restoration.

Looks like it sold quickly, priced too low I guess. So someone got a good deal and the owner got rid of it.
