That looks good, and using Photoshop, one could adjust the color balance of the image to closely match the housing it will be used with.

Other options include

  • Using a solid red plate from a Slenderet. If one doesn't turn up at a local thrift shop, try eBay. Currently listed sets have high prices, but this one sold a few months ago for a reasonable price:

  • 3D printing. Over a year ago, a local high school student made a few simple parts of about this complexity for a reasonable price. (Unfortunately, he's now off at college.)

A lot of my swirled slenderettes don't have matching trim. long ago I decided that  clear # card windows w/o paper worked for my head space.
that approach works for me

Quote from: rturner on January 04, 2025, 11:46:32 PMAny chance you can throw a picture up of the little plastic piece that covers the screws on the bottom case? Trying to match up the one missing from mine but it's been a good 15 years since I've seen it.
That piece seems to of been a separate cast of plastic. they typically don't seem to  match pattern.
They may match on a factory release set.
however, many swirls are shop conversion type sets using swirl housings.
I tend towards clear number plastics without paper.
you see the screws and see the swirl.
just my thoughts

Could always print the Stromberg Carlson name/logo onto a white number card and put it in there too. After the breakup AT&T put regular white number cards with the AT&T globe logo on both the handset and base of Trimlines until they redesigned it in 84/85 with the electronic ringer and condensed components, so it wouldn't look too far off, and even with Bell they had "trimline" handsets with a blank white number card on phones like the Noteworthy which also had a number card in the base. Oddly they did remake some plastic screw covers with the AT&T name for leased sets though.

There's one on eBay, has been for some time now, and will be for a long time to come in that the seller wants $20.

Clear windows are much less.

A few years ago I found a source for bulk clear windows. IIRC, something like $15 for 50. They are out of stock now, probably permanently. Other than a collector liquidating their spares stock, I think bulk purchases from vendors is a thing of the past.

Here's a photo of the bases of some of the Slenderets in my current display.

The production colors have matching color plates. The swirl sets have matching color swirled plates.

Non-production colors have solid color plates in a complementary color. Note the blue set has no clear cover with number card on the handset. Apparently intended for display.

I just got my fourth "official" S-C swirled set on a recent eBay auction. Usually the seem to be listed for crazy money (north of the $200 range).  This one was $70 and I snapped it up.

Glad it will get to spend some time with its siblings!
A phone phanatic since I was less than 2 (thanks to Fisher Price); collector since a teenager; now able to afford to play!
Favorite Phone: Western Electric Trimline - it just feels right holding it up to my face!
