Post your "Find of the Month" here.

A "Find of the Month" is a telephone or a related item that you acquired during the month that you are particularly excited about either because of its rarity, the difficulty you had in trying to find it for your collection or the exceptional "deal" that you got on it.

The "Find of the Month" contest is focused on the collection of telephones rather than on their sale for a profit. To be eligible for the "Find of the Month" contest:

- The finder must have personally acquired and actually own the item.
- The item can be acquired for free but it can not be a gift or present from anyone.
- The item (or any of its components) cannot be put up for sale during the contest period.
- Only one "Find" per owner can be in a "Find of the Month" contest.

A Nomination Should Include:

1) at least one picture of the item.
2) the price & shipping cost.
3) where and/or how it was found.
4) the forum link if discussed in another topic on CRPF.
5) the eBay link if won there.
6) and other information of importance about the find.

Ideally your item would be posted in its own thread elsewhere on the forum such as "Auction Talk", "Flea Market/Yard Sale Finds" or "Collectors Corner" Board. Then you or anyone else can nominate your "Find" to the Current "Find of the Month" thread by posting at least one picture and other details including the price paid, any shipping costs and a link to the original discussion on the forum. It is not a requirement that your find be posted elsewhere on the forum but the more details the better.

Nominations of phones listed in other forum discussion topics, by members that do not own the item but realize it is indeed a "find" worthy of being nominated as a "Find of the Month" candidate, are always welcome.

Please pick your best "Find" to submit for the month limiting your entry to one phone or one "Find" that might include multiple items. If you have already entered for the month and come up with something even better either submit your new find indicating that it replaces your previous entry OR you can enter your new Find in next months contest.

TelePlay has grabbed pictures of all of the "Find of the Month" winners since we started this back in 2010 and he has put them into albums on PhotoBucket. Thanks John.

Bought off of eBay a scarce New England Telephone porcelain sign. It is unusual because it has a white 1938 Bell and it has the die cut edges. Paid more then I should of as it's usually against my religion to pay big bucks for a sign. I'm Orthodox Cheap. Paid $393 with free shipping. The sign is bright and shiny with good color. The light spots seen in the photo are light reflections. While not cheap it's a great find.

For some strange reason blue and white enameled signs are a favourite for me.

I really like it a lot.

John sent me a note to remind everyone that we don't consider gifts/presents (the second rule listed below) as "Finds" for the purpose of the "Find of the Month" contest. Not that we don't want to hear all about them on the forum (We Do!) but they don't qualify for this particular contest.

Maybe we need a "Found under the Christmas Tree" topic each December!

Mr. Bones

I would like to nominate WEBellSystemChristian's 1937 302.

He got it off of eBay as part of a 4-phone lot, paying ~$26.00 each!

I like the NET&T sign!  I have narrowed my focus to 1921 Bells or earlier, but I stil had a hard time not bidding on it.  Glad you got it.  I am going to nominate my 18 x 18' flange AT&T sign.  There is a difference of opinion on how common this pattern is (no border) on an 18x 18 flange, but one thing I am fairly certain of is that the presence of "ING-RICH" in white porcelain is pretty rare.

I'm going to nominate my American Electric Fluted Column Candlestick.  $74.99 plus $12.30 shipping.  Quite a bargain at that price.  It's going out next week to get some new Nickel, then to my display case.

Well, I think I'll jump in this month and nominate this beautiful 1969 gray 565HK keyset.  Although obviously used, this phone has survived in near-mint condition, and has a genuine gray (not silver satin) line cord.  Well-preserved gray keysets just don't come along very often, and the ebay BIN price of $54 (plus $17.90) was too enticing to resist.

I'm going to nominate my Western Electric 293A I just received in the mail yesterday. I purchased this on Ebay for $79.00 plus $12.30 shipping. Take a look in Tech stuff under W.E. 293A

It is January so that means "Time to Vote" for the December 2015 Find of the Month. There are six contestants this month so lets do TWO VOTES each. Good luck everyone and Happy New Year!

We are stuck in a two way tie again this month so lets do a Run-Off vote to determine who ultimately has the Find of the Month for December.

The two remaining contestants are WEBellSystemChristian and wds. Dave F gets special mention for his Grey 565HK keyset that gave the other two some serious competition.

Below is a record of the first round of voting:

That's it for this months contest which also ends the Find of the Month contests for 2015. It was a hard fought competition initially landing in a two way tie between WEBellSystemChristian and wds which was put to a run-off poll.

Once the voting options were reduced to just these two contestants the ultimate winner became clear early on. wds' American Electric Fluted Column Candlestick at $75 was quite the find on eBay and has now officially been recognized as such by the savy voters here on CRPF. Now any other month WEBellSystemChristian's vented 1937 302 would likely gave been a clear winner but this month it didn't quite get the top billing (almost though).

Congratualtions to Dave for his win, Christian for his almost win, Dave F and his third place win and to everyone else who played this month as well as to everyone who took the time to vote....twice as it turned out.

Stay tuned for the Find if the YEAR competition coming soon to a Rotary Phone Forum near you.....
