A member on the TCI List sent me this Western Electric Panelphone so I could create a 3D printable form of the trim thats usually found missing on these sets.

Here is the panelphone and also a small sample of the trim I 3D printed.    Im going to have to print the trim in multiple pieces and then glue it together as my Print bed isn't large enough to print an entire trim.

Can those ridges be sanded off so the frame can be painted the desired color.
I never had anything that was "printed" 3D before, but I got a tool battery holder off the bay that was printed.
It's pretty cool technology.

Yup they can be sanded smooth and finished with auto body filler if need be.    I can also print in Wood PLA filament which sands really nice and will stain even better

I'm not familiar with these phones. What is the original trim made from, how is it attached, and why is it usually found missing?

These are panel phones installed in the wall of a home. Popular in the1970's particularly in new housing developments. The handset cord was is a reel that tended to fail frequently. Most of them were replaced within a short time. When the installers removed them they were not careful. The trim needed to be removed to get the phone out. They only had to return the phone so the moldings were broken on removal and trashed. The boxes they were mounted in are also hard to find as most were left in the wall and covered over.

Never knew these even existed. Is the faceplate and trim made from wood or ABS?

WOW, complete with the trim and the mounting box. Appears to be in pretty good shape. Still has the handset cord reel too, hard to find like this.

I think I have 1-2 cord reels.
There is a  chance the reel's interchanges with a telstar. I have never researched them.
