Hello everyone,

I have ordered a replacement 4-prong plug from Phoneco and I have a question. The question is: Do 4-prong plugs have screw terminals for all 4-prongs (yellow, red, green, and ground) or do the connectors "clip" in to the terminals?

Thank you,

All of the 4-prong plugs I have seen have screw terminals.

That price is a bit steep! Plus shipping! In the future you might ask here before ordering something. I have a few plugs hanging around and I am sure others do too. Probably could have saved some money.

Sometime, I may try the forum instead of Phoneco. And thanks for the tip.

If you have an AE 80, you should have an AE 4 prong...Doug

Was surprised to see the lowest cost 4 prong currently on eBay is $19.99 plus $5.60 shipping.

$10 plus shipping seems like a good deal.

I also have extras removed from line cords.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find an AE plug. I could only find a blank/bell system plug.

This is why I don't shop on E-Bay sometimes.

Speaking of plugs, I have just got my shipment. Turns out that the plug I ordered was a Bell System plug, does anyone know if the AE spade terminals would work & fit in a Bell System plug? And if they do, how would I connect them?

Open yours up.

From my assortment of WE 4 prong plugs, the square ones (WE 283B with 2 slotted connecting screws - newer ones with 2 Phillips connecting screws made in Japan) use 4 slotted screw terminals. The round ones (WE 505A) use 4 double spade lug slots.

Too bad the inside of the AE plug above was not shown. I don't have one so no clue as to the internal connectors in the AE plug.

Shoot, I ordered the wrong plug (type w/ lugs). Guess I'll have to go order a different one.

Post a reply here with images of the one you bought, inside and out.

I really don't think it matters if you use an AE embossed, WE embossed, unembossed, round or square plug. The end result is the same, connecting of a line cord to a wall Jack.

Old Phone Works in the Toronto area sells 4 prong plugs,

https://oldphoneworks.com/products/4-prong-plug-male?_pos=2&_psq=4+pr&_ss=e&_v=1.0

their web site shows 3 different styles under one part number and they state as their description: "4 prong line cord plug - (may not be exactly as illustrated)

I guess that's why WE embossed colored plugs on eBay run $40 with shipping. Supply is limited so the prices are high.

I can't find an AE plug anywhere online.
