Does anyone recognize what type of handset this is? There is no identification on it.  It is probably from the 1940's.  There is a button on the inside of the handset.  Not sure what the purpose was.  :-\  :-\

The button normally is for a push to talk function. The handset might be from an intercom, field phone or radio apparatus.

Are there any markings inside the handset or on the transmitter or receiver capsules?  Perhaps the button was for dictation.  It does not resemble any handset from a North American telephone.

No markings on the outside or inside the receiver . I didn't take transmitter apart. It does have a four wire conductor

Still the ptt (?) button makes it special.

That phone pic looks pretty close. It looks like it was never used, the 4 spade ends look factory new
